LSCRTA is a 55 year-old, dynamic, active organization for retired members from education-related employment.
Unified with IRTA and NRTA, the LaSalle County Unity is recognized for membership, unit activities, and commitment to retirees’ needs. The LSCRTA unit supports IRTA as the only retiree organization that advocates solely for retirees of education.

An organization of individuals dedicated to issues concerning educators and education. A unit that provides opportunities for individuals to participate in decision making, and to lead and work with committees with diverse responsibilities. A unit that can and will assist fellow retired educators.

Members are encouraged to attend and participate in the unit’s activities. The benefits of attendance are reaped in enhancement of retirement benefits, increased knowledge in individual benefits, and renewed peer relationships.
WHY – is the LSCRTA important?
LSCRTA is the area’s only active retired teacher organization to bring educational professionals together to share ideas. Members set goals, cheer achievements, act as pension and health legislation watchdogs. They have access to benefits: Dental and vision Plans, Long Term Care, Identity Theft Protection, Computer Discounts, First Diagnosis Cancer Policy, etc..

The LaSalle County Unit has a Board of Directors composed of elected officers, immediate past president, and standing committee chairs. Members are encouraged to participate at their comfort level. Active participation could be as active as a leader on the board, or as simple as a communicator to legislators. The unit is the instrument binding together the IRTA and local members. Your support of the local unit with your membership and service makes it a strong, viable retired educators’ organization.
Meetings of the LaSalle County Unit are held semiannually in the Fall and in the Spring throughout LaSalle County held in the morning with registration and fellowship, a business meeting, meaningful speakers and program determined by local and current interests and needs. Additional "mini-meetings" may also be held.
Annual dues of LSCRTA (local) are $10.00. IRTA (state) annual dues are $35.00. The fiscal year of IRTA/LSCRTA is January 1 to December 31. Members may have $2.00 per month withheld from their pension check reducing annual state dues to $24.00. IRTA lifetime dues are $400.
